SMU Inspiration Hub: A space for collaboration, creativity, and comfort

Partnering with Saint Mary’s University, our mission at Atlantic Business Interiors was to reimagine campus spaces to directly enrich the academic experience for students and faculty across departments. A vibrant university campus thrives when lecture halls, research suites, and informal gathering areas adapt effortlessly to diverse teaching styles and collaborative study routines. We set out to design an ecosystem that inspires intellectual curiosity, supports cutting-edge scholarship, and fosters meaningful campus community connections.

Academic environments operate on tight semester schedules where downtime between terms is precious. ABI worked in close synchronization with SMU facilities management and campus planners to execute deliveries, staging, and installations with meticulous timing. By coordinating logistical details to align with the academic calendar, our team delivered complete, turn-key learning environments ready for immediate use, allowing faculty to focus on curriculum delivery and students to dive straight into their coursework without disruption.

The transformed campus spaces strike a purposeful balance between rigorous academic focus and dynamic peer-to-peer engagement. From faculty research offices that provide acoustic isolation for deep analysis to modular student common areas that encourage active discussions and group project planning, the design creates an inclusive, modern framework for campus-wide success.
