Since 2014, our team at Atlantic Business Interiors has worked alongside Nova Scotia Community College to create vibrant learning and living spaces across the province. When NSCC began work on the student housing project at Ivany Campus, our mission was clear: create a welcoming, practical environment where students feel at home from the minute they set down their bags, balancing everyday comfort with spaces that genuinely support focus and downtime.
Move-in day is a huge milestone for every incoming resident, which meant timelines had to be flawless. Working side by side with the general contractors and site teams, we carefully mapped out every furniture delivery and build. By handling logistics proactively behind the scenes, we made sure the residence was fully set up, polished, and ready before the first student walked through the front doors.
The result is a living community shaped around how students actually spend their days. It offers quiet, comfortable personal rooms for studying and recharging, alongside inviting shared areas where roommates and classmates can hang out, make connections, and settle into campus life.
What ABI delivered
We furnished every suite and common area with durable, accessible pieces designed to handle the active rhythms of student life while staying easy to clean and care for over time.
Inside each bedroom, students get supportive task seating, side chairs, and versatile work surfaces that keep long study sessions comfortable and fit natural living habits. In the shared lounges, we installed relaxed seating upholstered in healthcare-grade vinyl, giving everyone soft, inviting spots to socialize that effortlessly resist daily spills and heavy traffic.
True accessibility sat at the heart of our layout decisions. We built height-adjustable tables into barrier-free rooms to give every resident an intuitive, adaptable setup that meets their personal routine, a standard we validated early through physical prototypes and hands-on reviews.
