When COVID-19 brought the world to a halt in March 2020, Atlantic Business Interiors didn’t hesitate to step up and support the communities we serve. In a time of uncertainty, our founder Tom Rose partnered with the 11 United Ways across Atlantic Canada to launch the Atlantic Compassion Fund (ACF), a rapid-response initiative built on solidarity, generosity, and resilience.
As the founding donor, we proudly matched the first $100,000 in donations, igniting a movement of compassion across the region. This fund quickly became a lifeline for individuals and families affected by the pandemic, addressing urgent needs in real time.
We imagine a future where kindness leads and progress follows
Our work is grounded in the belief that small actions can spark lasting change. As the world evolves, we stay committed to uplifting efforts that empower and connect. We act not out of duty, but from a deep hope for a better tomorrow, whatever shape it takes.

Purpose of the Fund
The Atlantic Compassion Fund was created to meet basic needs during the height of the COVID-19 crisis, support vulnerable and marginalized populations, and help communities recover and reconnect when the time was right. The fund’s first grant was made just six days after its launch, on March 23, 2020, with the final grant distributed by January 30, 2021. In less than a year, the ACF created meaningful change in every corner of Atlantic Canada.

🏢 United Way’s role in the Atlantic Compassion Fund
The Atlantic Compassion Fund was coordinated by United Way Halifax in partnership with 10 other United Ways across Atlantic Canada. United Way’s role was to ensure that resources were distributed rapidly and effectively to address the most urgent needs caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
By working closely with local charities and community organizations, United Way directed funding where it would have the greatest impact, helping vulnerable populations, supporting frontline services, and strengthening community resilience. Through this collaborative, region-wide approach, the Fund reached thousands of people across Atlantic Canada, demonstrating the power of united community action.
Atlantic Business Interiors is grateful to United Way and all its regional partners for their dedication, local leadership, and unwavering commitment to serving those who needed it most.
